Goa's CM and former Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar has passed away. Four-time Goa Chief Minister, 63-year-old Parrikar was suffering from cancer for a long time. President Ramnath Kovind tweeted and paid tribute to Parrikar, saying that his contributions to Goa and the country can not be forgotten. Parrikar has left behind two sons. Both of his sons are away from politics. Utpal is an engineer by profession and Abhijit himself does business. A central cabinet meeting has been convened to pay homage to him at 11 a.m. on Monday. At the same time, the Central Government declared a national mourning on March 18.

Manohar Parrikar's funeral will be done on Monday evening at 5 o'clock. This information has been given from the Twitter handle of the Goa CM Office. According to this, Monday morning from 9.30 am to 10.30 pm Parrikar's body will be kept at the BJP head office in Panaji. From here his cremation will be taken to the Art Academy Panaji. From 10.30 am to 4 p.m. in the morning, people can give their last homage to their leader. The funeral will be done at 5 pm in Miramar.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi has tweeted condoling the death of Parrikar. Rahul wrote, "I am very unhappy with the death of CM of Goa. He was struggling with illness for the last one year. He was a respected leader above the party line and was one of the best people in Goa. My condolences are with his family in this sad hour.

In spite of being severely suffering from cancer, he has been living his responsibilities as a CM for the last several months. Many of his photographs drip in the nose were also viral on social media. Manohar Parrikar, who had a strong column of BJP and politics in Goa, had studied with IIT. He had a special identity as a leader of the country's educated and simple life.
It is worth mentioning that in February 2018 Parrikar was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He has already been treated in hospitals in Goa, Mumbai, Delhi and New York. On the days he was very ill, he came to present the budget of 2019-20 in the state assembly. During this time, he had said very confidently, "I am also in spirit and am also in senses."

First leader to become CM of BJP from Goa

- Born on December 13, 1955 in Mapusa, Goa, Manohar Parrikar was a Rajya Sabha MP from Goa before being the Chief Minister of Goa and the Defense Minister. He passed the graduation examination from IIT Mumbai in 1978.
With this, Parrikar is the first person to become Chief Minister of any Indian state, who graduated from IIT. In 2001, IIT Bombay had given the title of a former alumnus.
- He was the first leader to become the chief minister of Goa from BJP. On October 24, 2000, he took charge of Goa. But his government lasted till February 27, 2002.
- However, after that, they were again CM from June 5, 2002 to 2005. After this, he was chief minister for the fourth time from 2012 to 2014 and from March 14, 2017 to March 17, 2019.
Parrikar formed the government for the fourth time in Goa with the support of smaller parties and independents. Please tell that Parrikar was also an active campaigner of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

- During the Parrikar's tenure in a survey of planning commission of India and INDIA TODAY, Goa was said to be the best governed state of India for three consecutive years. For this reason, Parrikar was also known as Mr Klein in Goa.
